Fallout 5 fans may want to take a seat, as a recent release date update confirms what we all suspected: this game is a long, long, long way away. You know how when you pick up your cat, and it gets all floppy and long, and you laugh and call him a foolish long boy? Multiply that length by a few thousand.
Todd Howard of Bethesda revealed that Fallout 5 is absolutely on the road, but the unpleasant reality is that it will be a very long time. Of course, the crew has been hard at work on Starfield, and now that the game is out, the focus has shifted to The Elder Scrolls VI. You may be wondering when Fallout aficionados will be able to receive another bite of the irradiated pie.
Fallout 5 Release Date Speculations
Fallout 5 is on the road, but Bethesda has stated that it will be released after The Elder Scrolls 6. With that still a few years away, it’s looking increasingly probable that Fallout 5 won’t see the light of day for quite some time – assuming we aren’t experiencing our own post-apocalyptic adventure by then.
We’ve waited up to a decade between entries in our beloved post-apocalyptic series in the past. Still, with Fallout 76 being revealed two years after Fallout 4 – the same gap as Fallout 3 and New Vegas – it appears that we’ll be waiting a long time for Fallout 5.
Todd Howard confirms the The Elder Scrolls 6 release date in an interview with IGN in 2021. Due to Bethesda’s recent concentration on a tiny game called Starfield, 2030 appears to be a reasonable expectation for our next trip outside the vault. As players are not happy with the Fallout 5 release date not being announced, a Player organized a poll and asked the community to guess when Fallout 5 will be released.
So Fallout 5 release date?

Fallout 5 Platform
In the past, Fallout has been available on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms. For Fallout 4, a standalone VR version was made for the HTC Vive, Windows Mixed Reality, and Valve Index. We don’t know if this wide range of support will last for Fallout 5 in the long run, but if it follows in the tracks of Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6, it will come out first on Game Pass, Xbox Series X, and PC.
Fallout 5 Gameplay
Despite our excellent assessment, Fallout 4 was not universally praised. Fallout aficionados may not consider it the best in the post-apocalyptic franchise due to its weak roleplaying and graphics. RPG fans want more Fallout 5 gameplay.
Without concrete details, we can only conjecture about Fallout 5’s gameplay. Looting and embarking on quests to other intriguing places are expected on a rich, new, and bleak planet. Hope we have a richer roleplaying system with meaningful choices. Expanded dialogue options would be nice, but they would have to sacrifice a vocal lead like Fallout 4.
Given the previous game’s incredible creations, Fallout 4’s towns may reappear in the next game. Building bases added another wrinkle to scavenging as we looked for two coffee cups to make a fancy khazi. Bringing quest items back to strengthen our bases was a fun gaming cycle. Hope to see more settlement possibilities in Fallout 5. However, you can get them now with Fallout 4 mods and console commands.
The Fallout 5 VR version may arrive with the normal game, but anything new about the gameplay is unknown. After two years, we could strap The Commonwealth to our skulls for Fallout 4. Visit our list of the finest RPGs and games like Fallout to kill time till you can explore a new wasteland.
Pre-orders for Fallout 5
It almost goes without saying, but don’t pre-order Fallout 5 from places that say you can play it early. They are nothing but scams. When Bethesda shows off the full game, people will be able to pre-order Fallout 5. In other words, don’t expect to buy it in stores for a long time.
Fallout 5 Location Predictions
There have been numerous rumors about new Fallout 5 locales, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. We’ve previously decided on the Fallout 5 settings we’d like to see, but here are the most rumored places currently making the rounds on the internet.
The City of New Orleans:
When a trademark application for ‘Fallout New Orleans’ appeared at the EU Intellectual Property Office in 2016, it sparked speculation about a Deep South addition to the Fallout franchise. While swampy environments have been visited in past Fallout DLCs, such as Point Lookout and Far Harbor, the veracity of this myth remains questionable.
Chicago:
Chicago appeared briefly in the Fallout series during the introduction of Fallout: Tactics. ED-E hinted at Enclave outposts in Chicago and New Vegas. This suggests that Chicago could be a locale in Fallout 5.
Alaska:
Alaska has already been mentioned in the series, notably in the Fallout 3 DLC Operation: Anchorage. The DLC let players go back in time to Alaska prior to the Great War of 2077. Exploring the aftermath of the legendary Battle of Anchorage may be an intriguing Fallout 5 plotline.
Outside of the United States:
Fallout games have always taken place in America. However, there is conjecture that Fallout 5 will deviate from this tradition by visiting locales outside of the United States. This may mean entering Chinese or Russian territory and providing a distinct perspective on the world-consuming conflict. Another appealing option is to visit the European Commonwealth, which may lead to destinations such as Berlin, Paris, or Rome after decades of resource conflicts and civil wars. The exact location of Fallout 5 is yet unknown, and these are only online rumors.
